Acquiring wholesale accounts is a place where any chandelier wants to see themselves at! You know how it is, going down the aisle at Walmart, and thinking dang, what I would give to have my candles on their shelf. And maybe Walmart is too ‘sell-out’ but you get my drift. We know that if we can get on the shelves of stores, we can define and measure a certain amount of success. But how does one do that? Here are some tips I’ve learned along the way.
1.First things first, don’t be afraid to communicate. Send those emails, ask those questions. Do research in areas of the globe that interest you, understand their market, and fire at will. The worst thing that can happen, is they say no… However, you miss every shot you don’t take, so don’t be afraid.
2.Another pro tip is to physically show up to the places of interest with examples in hand. Home fragrances are a bit of an impulse buy, and scents/aromas evoke memories that can’t be called up via the world wide web. Show people your product and let see what they are missing out on!
3.Don’t undercut yourself! Make sure you have done a thorough COG analysis on your materials and labor before you offer pricing! Your time and products are valuable! Always remember that!
